The Empire of Medieval Pursuits endeavors to engender a culture of learning and fun with an historical theme. The common thread that runs throughout, is an interest in the methods and means of ancient society, especially the “good” parts. While its really neat to wear clothes that you made starting out with a sheep, or learning to start a fire with a flint and tinder, being wounded on the battlefield and treated with Dark Ages medicine leaves something to be desired.
As a member of the Empire you may choose to explore/portray any of the myriad differing personae available throughout known history. Be a Roman centurion or Mongol warrior, a Scottish noble or revered clergyman, but most of all have enjoy your reenactment with others of like mind. If there isn’t a group already exploring your particular time period, or that group doesn’t meet your needs, feel free to create your own.
Another large part of the Empire that is outside of current culture is the chosen method of governance. In keeping with modern sensibilities, supreme executive authority does still derive from the mandate of the masses. However, within the Empire that mandate is expressed using strength at arms. If you don’t like the direction that the Empire is heading, feel free to change it and test your mettle in the crucible of combat.
