Laws up for consideration at the August 2006 Meeting of the House of Lords

1) Word: Any Law placed before the Noble Estate must be done so a minimum of 30 days before it may be voted on.

Intent: The intent of this Law is to provide a period of time for Nobles to consult and consider what action they may choose regarding it.

2) Word: A Lord may only delegate his authority to a current member or citizen of the Empire of Medieval Pursuits. Any authority vested in a Lord is confined within the boundaries of the Empire, thus only its members are eligible to wield it.

Intent: The intent of this law is to maintain the integrity of the Empire by only vesting its authority in those who have proven a minimum level of interest (ie: membership or citizenship) in its continuance.

3) Word: A lord of a level two branch or higher may create and bestow honorifics in accordance with the needs of their populace and with revision of their charter.

Intent: the intent of this law is to allow a local Lord to better acknowledge their populace for the good works that they produce and to reward such groups achieving lvl 2 status with greater autonomy.

4) Word: When engaging in activities in which accidental harm could come to those outside the EMP, the Lord in charge shall perform due diligence concerning the safety of all mundane persons. It is strongly recommended that certain activities receive extra attention, such as thrown weapons, combat archery, target archery and night fighting.

Intent: The intent of this law is to promote the safety of individuals spectating EMP activities and address liability issues concerning EMP use of public areas. It is also to reinforce that participants of any EMP activity are solely responsible for their own safety. Shepherds are not referees for activities, but purely there for the safety of spectators.

5) Word: Citizenship and Membership fees are to be renewed every year on or by April 15, and an accurate accounting of that years totals shall be published within 30 days.

Intent: The intent of this Law is to provide a period of time for an accurate and published accounting of available votes within the House of Lords.

For consideration:

Word: The House of Lords meeting date, time and place shall be announced and posted on the EMP website no less than 45 days in advance. The meeting date, time and place may be discussed and changed up to 30 days in advance.

Intent: To give the Lords and Ladies ample time to make arrangements to attend, arrange a proxy, or reconsider the date, time or place.
