We the Citizens of al-Madeena, in order to promote harmony, tranquility and the general welfare of the people, do ordain these articles to be the recognized policies and customs of our Group. This charter shall define, but not limit, the rights of all gentles who live within our branch borders.
The center of al-Madeena shall be 1201 4th Ave. Seattle, WA 98104. The extended borders of al-Madeena shall include all territory within two days walk (50 miles) in every direction.
The Customs of al-Madeena shall include a focus on the Silk Road, though all cultures shall be made welcome within this demesne.
Within al-Madeena the Lord or Lady shall be chosen on a yearly basis by some form of tournament. The format of the tournament shall be determined by spinning the Wheel of Destiny. The time, date, and location of this tournament shall be published at least 30 days in advance and shall be held no later than the Vernal Equinox each year. The type of tournament shall be determined no later than Twelfth Night, giving all interested parties suitable time to prepare. To be eligible to contest for Leadership of al-Madeena one must be a current member of al-Madeena. An aspirant my avail themselves of a Champion for the tournament, but the Champion must also be a current member of al-Madeena.
The Lord or Lady of al-Madeena shall make a prodigious effort to attend meetings of the Noble Estate. The Lord or Lady shall also be responsible for the general management of the Group. To this end they may create such officers as needed. The officer corps of al-Madeena serves at the discretion of the Lord or Lady and may be installed or removed at their whim. Votes cast within the House of Lords will be at the discretion of the Lord of al-Madeena. The Lord/Lady of the Branch shall make a concerted effort to promote the welfare and harmony of al-Madeena.
Should the Lord or Lady fail to execute these duties a challenge may be laid by a minimum of 20% of al-Madeena. The time, date, and location of a challenge must be announced with 30 days notice and it is the responsibility of those presenting the challenge to make the arrangements and give notice to the populace of al-Madeena. The challenger must also inform the Lord or Lady in writing of the accusations being laid, at least a fortnight in advance of any challenge so that the ruler has time to prepare an adequate defense. The challenger must then present a case to the populace for removal and the Lord or Lady may refute these charges at this time. The populace shall then declare with whom they will side and a melee combat shall be engaged to determine the fate of the Lord or Lady.
